1 - Vessel details: What is the name of the boat, what type of vessel is she, and how many people will be on board in total?

2 - Downwind sail inventory: What sails do you carry for downwind sailing? For example: white sails only with gybing downwind, a poled-out headsail, small or large spinnakers/kites, parasailor, etc.

3 - Motoring range: What is your approximate motoring range under engine?

4 - Onboard limitations: Are there any operational restrictions on board? For example, no autopilot, reduced sail handling capability, or anything else that might affect passage planning.

5 - At-sea communications: What system do you use for email while offshore? For example: Iridium, SatMail, SSB, Garmin InReach, or another system. Please also include the email address you will be using while at sea.

6 - Tracking your position - Being able to see your position is quite important so I can provide the most accurate and up-to-date forecasts.

Do you have a tracking system on board that shares your position via a website?

If you are using PredictWind, they provide a tracking service that can generate a link for shore-based followers. If you can share that link with me, I can monitor your position whenever required.

As a last-resort option, you could send me a text message with your latitude and longitude every 8 hours so I can manually plot your position. However, this means I would not have visibility of your location during those 8-hour periods, and if a message is missed it may take some time before I can re-establish your position. Please note there is an additional charge for texts sent to satellite phones. I typically charge €2 per message, which reflects the cost charged by my provider.
